I’m lonely and want to chat - what is wrong with me? Why doesn’t anyone want to chat to me?

Posters were talking to you and you made threats to kill yourself.

BIWI · 04/01/2026 20:11

I’ll talk to you @EyeSwivel - what are you up to this evening?

Posters were not getting the facts right / reading my OP - and they admitted to not reading it.

pardon me for being mentally ill. Would you rather I just go away and give up?

I’ll talk to you @EyeSwivel - what are you up to this evening?

Thank you. I’ll just ignore the haters who would rather I didn’t try to get help.

im very cold so just gone to bed. Had to turn the heating off since h left as really struggling with bills.

I feel so confused - I always try to do the right thing but people seem to walk all over me.

what are you up to?

OP posts:
Kangarude · 04/01/2026 20:15

No I would not prefer that at all.

BIWI · 04/01/2026 20:18

It’s bloomin’ freezing this evening! Mind you, we went out for a quick meal this evening, and just getting out of the house made me appreciate the warmth when we got back in much more.

Could you have a hot bath, and read a good book? That’s a very comforting evening for me.

EyeSwivel · 04/01/2026 20:20

I’d love a bath @BIWI but don’t have one - only a shower.

I can’t focus very well on reading at the moment, I don’t have a v good attention span. I end up scrolling through Vinted and putting loads on my wish list.

what are you reading at the moment?

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way, and have also posted this on your other thread but we wanted to share a link to our Mental Health resources: ^https://www.mumsnet.com/webguide/mental-health.^
You can also go to the Samaritans website: ^https://www.samaritans.org/^ or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.
We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.
We are going to move this thread to the Mental Health section shortly.

@KimMumsnet thanks but I’d rather just chat not be put into a “mental health” category

Have you decided I’m too mad to post in a normal area?

OP posts:
EyeSwivel · 04/01/2026 20:28

Feels really patronising and discriminatory 😩

OP posts:
BIWI · 04/01/2026 20:31

It’s not meant to be like that @EyeSwivel - it’s meant so that people don’t just bitchplop on your thread without considering you more carefully.

EyeSwivel · 04/01/2026 20:32

That’s a great term- I’m well used to being bitchplopped on!

I’ve just finished reading the latest Robert Galbraith novel, The Hallmarked Man. Very long and a bit complicated sometimes, but a satisfying read.

EyeSwivel · 04/01/2026 20:33

maybe I have paranoia, but the problem is I wound it know as I’d just be being paranoid about being paranoid

How about listening to a podcast?

Is that one of the series with that one legged detective guy - i can’t remember his name ?

I really enjoy listening to the Off Menu podcast, hosted by comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster. Or, if you like films, Kermode and Mayo’s Take. You don’t have to be a film buff, as the banter between the two of them is really enjoyable.

I am embarrassed to admit I don’t really know what a podcast is? A bit like a YouTube Video?

Yes, that’s right - it’s the lates one in the series

BIWI · 04/01/2026 20:35

A podcast is like a radio show, except you listen to it as and when you want to. If you have an iphone there’s a podcast app. Or try BBC Sounds. They should be free to download.

I hope they televise it - if it’s long & complicated I prob wouldn’t have the attention to read it!
