I just want someone to talk to

My mental health is in the gutter and I have no one to speak to. I’ve tried ringing Samaritans but just get a lady talking at me. Please just anyone to talk to would help me so much 😔

Sorry you're feeling rubbish. Everything seems worse in the middle of the night doesn't it? If you ring the Samaritans again I wonder if you'd get a different person...

wherewillwegoto · 21/11/2025 02:49

Sorry you're struggling. I'm here to talk if you want to.

woodpeckersounds · 21/11/2025 02:57

I just want to go. Disappear. Not like anuome would miss me. I’ve had enough of my life and I hate it. I’m done 😔

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure someone would miss you.

Have you tried texting SHOUT on 85258, you just text "SHOUT" to them and they reply, then you can tell them what's worrying you.

Alternatively keep calling the Samaritans, hopefully someone more helpful will pick up. You can email them too.

wherewillwegoto · 21/11/2025 03:00

Do you want to talk about why you feel that way?

woodpeckersounds · 21/11/2025 03:06

I’ve tried and tried talking but ot falls on deaf ears. I’m an expert at making myself seem happy and fun but I’m done with it. I can’t do it no more. I don’t want to kill myself I just want to run away. My mum killed herself and I can’t do that to my kids but I know they’re better off without me. I just want to run away. Be gone. That’s all I want

Hi OP, I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. I’m up with a baby all night and can talk if you would like. I just need to say that your children would miss you so so terribly. You are needed, you are loved and you are important. Please open up and talk to us, people are here for you.

onwardandupwards · 21/11/2025 03:12

Your kids are not and never will be better off without you. Can you try to see a gp tomorrow? ( if you feel able too) xx

Icecreamisthebest · 21/11/2025 03:45

Oh sweetheart. I'm sorry you feel so rotten.

Please talk to us

GeorgeEdwardsMum · 21/11/2025 04:08

Don't stop talking. I can tell you from my personal experience that your DC will never be better off without you. I also think running away is simply geography. Even if it's baby steps, are there changes you can begin to make to help the way you're feeling?

Icecreamisthebest · 21/11/2025 07:04

Hope you’re ok @woodpeckersounds

Thinking of you

Hoping1235 · 23/11/2025 11:51

I'm here if you want to talk to... I know how lonely being in your head can be and not wanting to burden anyone.. we are here to listen..

AnniePetrichor · 23/11/2025 11:57

Samaritans have a time limit on calls and SHOUT have terrible reviews. I’m here if you need to talk. I’ve been there with wanting to run away, still do sometimes. November is a grim month for some of us and the Christmas ads don’t help.

Imbluedalale · 23/11/2025 12:03

Hi OP. I’ve been exactly where you are . If you need to chat you can pm me xx

AnniePetrichor · 23/11/2025 12:05

You can PM me too, OP. I don’t have much faith in Samaritans, sorry to say.

BeckyAMumsnet · 01/12/2025 13:03

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way.

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources. You can also go to the Samaritans website or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek real-life help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.

Very best wishes from MNHQ.
