Anyone on Mirtazapine for anxiety?

Gp has just put me on this for severe anxiety and panic attacks and I have to say, it’s working and I’ve only been on it for 2 days.

for comparison, for over 3 weeks I’ve hardly been able to get out of bed, constant anxiety and panic. Thought I was going mad.

I’ve never had this before and it was triggered by a recent bereavement. Couldn’t get an appointment with my GP so ended up going down the nhs mental health route, which made the situation worse.

i know it makes you put weight on but, as I lost nearly a stone in 3 weeks I don’t care, I’m just so relieved to start feeling normal again.

anyone else got positive stories on this med?

Not been on mirtazapine but thanks for posting about its positive effect. I might try it if the escitaopram doesn’t work for me. Am on day 6 of it.

I’m off it now but it was the only tablet that worked for me.

I didn’t actually put on any weight, but I think that is unusual. That was the least of my concerns at the time anyway.

I’d definitely have no issue taking it again if needed.

@LighthouseLEDthats great news. I’m wondering how long you took it before you noticed the effects?
as mentioned, I’m at day 4 now for anxiety and I feel almost back to the old me.
can I ask? If you had anxiety, how quickly you noticed an improvement?
im really hoping that what I feel is genuine and not a placebo effect.

It was a while ago so I can’t remember exactly - plus I changed from something else (citalopram IIRC) which was making me feel awful - but it was pretty quick to start noticing a difference.
