Are they likely to put you on a list or just laugh at you?

I asked my doc (well actually, DH was with me and he asked)and he put me forward to a counselling service. He was already treating me for depression, though.

Last time I asked a doctor about accessing mental health support services, he asked me whether I really wanted to 'drag all that [my mum's suicide] up again' or whether it might be better to just get on with my life.

I made a complaint. Hope you have better luck AM!

I didn't even have to ask,she referred me straight away (for anxiety) and my 1st appointment is in 2 weeks.

She was very sympathetic & was so understanding that I burst into tears.I just wasn't expecting antone to take me seriously I suppose.

Good luck

My GP was great and put me in touch with various services when I asked about this after my mum died a few years ago.
