Having a difficult period at work which is affecting my whole life. I cannot stop being in a spiral of negative thoughts: I’ll lose my job, cannot find a new one due to market being shite, we will lose the house, everything is going to go badly. On too of this I have worries about future health, the state of our country, the NHS, the world, and much much more. I absolute hate being in this spiral and I know therapy might help which I am not ruling out. But wonder if anyone has any tips to help me escape from these daily thoughts.

Write them down. When your thoughts are in your head they are only limited by your imagination (so not limited at all!). By writing them down you allow the rational part of your mind to assess them. If you need a bit of structure this guide is really useful;

Try meditation to stop yourself thinking so much.
Get a hobby where you need to concentrate - drawing, music, making something.
Exercise.
Therapy.

I agree with writing them down - there’s something about them going from your head, down your arm, into your hand then out on to the paper that really helps. Sometimes, burning the paper helps too!

Also, I find mindfulness helps. Sitting looking at a candle flame and deep breathing, and emptying your mind makes a huge difference, to me at least.

This is all on top of me taking escitalopram and also a mood stabiliser. They really helps too though! Hope you can get on top of it and feel better soon x
