ADHD ADULT DIAGNOSIS AND MED

My husband (50) of 20 years was diagnosed with Combined ADHD two years ago and this year started his titration for medication. He has 4 x xaggitin daily and side affects are extremely heightened senses, complete intolerance to sounds such as our dog barking. But another thing that has happened is he has left me. Reasons he's given are because I care for our daughter (19 who has complex needs and needs a lot of support at night and I've been caught between them for years. Whereas he has in the past got angry with me he now sees that doesn't help matters so has left to make life easier for me. Another reason is because he is getting used to his new self. We are on good terms and talking, while this is all very hard and quite strange and painful feeling, but I wondered if anyone else has had extreme life changing responses to ADHD medication/ Xaggitin? It would really help me if I knew. Thanks in advance.

The medication is a red herring, like many before he’s decided he is happier without the obligations of family life. Trying to understand his thinking isn’t going to make any difference to his actions. Hard as it is put your own needs first now just like he has done and don’t believe his bolloxs.

50 year old men leaving their wives is a tale as old as time.
