My dad has gone from being an active, happy, sociable, chilled out man for his whole life to developing extreme anxiety seemingly overnight with no trigger. It was so bad he couldn’t leave the house a few weeks ago. He is taking antidepressants now which seem to have helped very slightly but not made a huge difference, and he is still so up and down and really struggling. My mum has basically become his carer, and it’s started to really affect her too and I am also worried for her mental health, as she has basically put her life on hold.

Dad has had a CT scan, which came back with nothing abnormal, he has an appointment with a neurologist but that is 6 weeks away.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? GP has carried out blood tests, ECG and blood pressure. All fine.

Any other tests we could ask for?

Thanks

Came on to say that - they can have a dramatic effect.

Has anyone heard anything about Lymes disease being a cause for sudden and extreme anxiety and depression?
