Made a fool of myself at work

Yesterday I had a mini nervous breakdown with my boss. I then took the rest of the day as sick. Today after a better sleep, I reached out and apologised but now he wants to speak to me
tomorrow. He said we need to discuss this.

Seriously worried I’m in trouble now :(

I hope he is supportive.

Does he know you are struggling?

In what way did you breakdown?

I think having a big cry_panic attack is very different to, say, losing it and calling him a dickhead

I would assume welfare check rather than trouble.

He doesn’t know I’m struggling as I keep my cards close to my chest. Just workload and out of work with my kids. I kinda let weeks of craziness in my head build up and it all came blurting out. I think he now thinks I’m nuts. I feel foolish and annoyed I overshared.

Sorry you are having a tough time. Have a think about what you need from the meeting - do you want to ask for time off, or reduced responsibilities etc. It might help him if you know what you need and are upfront with it.

Best of luck. I find that these things are never as bad as we fear.
