Please help with psychiatric evaluation

Can I just get a Psychiatric evaluation?

Could I just get a diagnosis just for what is wrong with me and then get alternative cheaper treatment once I know for sure.

How much would that cost in the SE?

I'm tormented by what is wrong with me and not knowing for sure what the real professionals will say it is. I just know how it affects me and that every problem in my life stems from it. I can't function.

Please help

You take care, slow down, try and relax with a bit of me time and look after yourself, I hope you get the help you need soon.

I was thinking of you this morning. Did you hear back?

Oh yes, the priory fine, I'm just worried about the costs piling up for you. For a formulation a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist would be suitable, but you might get more bang for your buck from a psychologist. I don't know which the priory would allocate, or how they price.

I've been on a waiting list since the start of April for MH/therapy and not seen anyone yet. They're treating me medically for a panic disorder and depression but so far nothing for the anxiety. I don't want to be on the tablets as they make me very tired and I'm napping in the day - hard to knownif that's the depression or drugs tbh but means I can't work. A few years ago I would have had savings to spend 200 on a private consult but the last few years I've zero extra budget and have to cut more because I can't earn. It is a broken system.

@MissMoneyFairy I'm in Surrey.

@Pickandmixmood The lady who answered from The Priory was wonderful and yes I would prefer there as they can also do assessments for ADHD after the initial assessment. I will chase as you're another person who has said they are great.

My brain started thinking oh they wanted to know if I would be getting treatment from them, and when I said I am prioritising diagnosis for now due to finances, I started thinking I wonder if now they won't bother with me. This is probably my mental health speaking, but that's the way my mind starts thinking. Again I'm not sure why I feel like this.

Hey, can you tell me which Priory you are referring to? Do you have a website or contact information? I’m looking to have an evaluation done but after exhausting the gp route and desperately trying to make sense of what’s happening to me; here I am on this thread.

How did it turn out for you? Did you do the evaluation? Was it scary or worthwhile?

P.s- Please if anyone knows of a good place, im willing to commute. I just want some clarity on my mental vs being pumped with a cocktail of prescription from gp that’s been unhelpful. Thank you.
