Still waiting cmht referral especially psychosis team

Following on from previous threads. I went to the GP Friday. Regarding suspected psychosis. My gp put in a urgent refferal and she said theu will phone me the same day Friday and to stay with my phone as it was a urgent referral to the community mental health team, specifically psychosis team ... also for a mental health assessment.

I'm still waiting... how long does it take for them to contact me? Especially when my GP said they will phone me Friday.... I am really struggling right now

Sorry you're feeling like that.
Phone nhs24 and ask for help.
I hope you get the assistance you need.

Oh gosh, some areas are really rubbish (mine are useless, my friend’s are fabulous and visit really swiftly). I suggest you call 111 and option 2 and talk it through with them. They may be able to give the MH team a nudge. Alternatively, do you have a number for the crisis team? Happy to try to find it if you want to PM me your area.
if none of those options suit then you must call your GP back in the morning and tell them you’ve heard nothing. MH services are so stretched but you deserve support.

I think EIP is within two weeks but I could be wrong it’s what I read a while back. Hope you get a call soon

OP I've advised you several times to phone NHS Direct and speak to the mental health team. Press option 2.

111 option 2

Incase it helps you, this is the process that happened when I was recently referred urgently to the cmht. Obviously all areas are different so yours might not happen this way:

My gp recently referred me to the cmht. It was an urgent referral (but not for psychosis). A few days later I had a phone call from the cmht Triage Nurse (I think she deals with all types of referrals and decides where to send them/how urgently to be seen). It took about 30 minutes. She asked lots of questions. She then booked me for a face to face assessment. That happened about 4 weeks later. (The outcome was that I didn't actually need the cmht and we made a more appropriate plan going forwards, which I agreed with).

Things you could do now:

  • As PP suggested, phone 111, option 2. They might be able to chase the referral up with your GP or get you more urgent help if needed.

  • Google the Crisis Team for your area. Phone them. They should provide some help over the phone and may be able to see what's happening with the referral.

  • Google the cmht for your area. There should be a general phone number available. They should be able to see your referral.

  • Contact your GP surgery. Most have online communication/messaging during opening hours. Send a message and tell them you haven't been contacted yet and ask them to find out what is happening.

I know it's hard when you're not feeling well but try to choose just one of those options, whichever you will find easiest, and take those steps. In the meantime try distraction if you are able to....something simple like adult colouring books or listening to a podcast/the radio.

How are you feeling now? How have things been with you over the last few days? Do you live with anyone else who might be helpful?

I hope you're okay and get to speak to someone from cmht soon.

Atm? I'm in a world I don't no, everything's not right of how it should b, it's dreamy like state and in not a nice way. It's floaty. It's scary. I feel extremely low in mood, no concretation, I don't no what's happening I'm so confused. Everything and everyone wants to hurt me.

If your in crisis phone 111 option 2. They’ll probably be able to tell you how long the wait is too.

Do you want to PM me your area and I can see if I can find the crisis team number for you? Or would you call 111? It will speed things up I think x

mitogoshigg · 10/10/2024 19:24

If you are in crisis go to an a&e with a mental health unit, most larger hospitals have a mental health suite. But you need to be in a situation where you can't wait, only you know that
