Hi,

I have taken my first tablet of sertraline 25mg, I have started to feel dizzy, a bit lightheaded and drowsy, I have just had to run to the toilet and had diarrhoea, the problem that I have is I am taking these for anxiety and panic disorder, how do I know if I am having a panic attack or a bad reaction!? I am freaking out :( I want to go A&E but my partner and mum have told me I will be fine and that 1 tablet at 25mg won’t do anything so it’s most likely a panic attack but I just don’t know :(
it has put me off of taking them.

@MountUnpleasant I have decided to not go ahead with it and will stop taking them :( I feel like I am going insane. I feel cold but I'm clammy, itchy, really anxious, diarrhoea, dry mouth, irritated, angry, scared, feels a lot like a very bad comedown with extreme anxiety... the list is endless. I also suffer with panic disorder so it was most definitely heightened last night. I have a 2 year old so I can't go on like this

Sertraline made me so nauseous when I first started that I had to time taking it to less than an hour before going to sleep, if not I would feel so ill and uncomfortable. That feeling subsided after a few weeks but I’ve just kept the schedule of taking them at night rather than in the morning.

You're not going to get better if you don't take them, OP.

This isn't true.

I asked my GP for Diazepam to help get me through the first few weeks of taking Sertraline, and he did (reluctantly) prescribe me some. You could ask the doctor for a temporary medication as you can't cope with the side effects.

Whatever you decide, I hope you feel much better soon.
