I have been reading up a lot of ADHD, the non attentive type, and having struggled a lot over the years I suspect this is what I have.
I also wonder if I might be a bit autistic there are things that tick boxes for me with that too. I don't know.

I'm wondering what is the best thing to do, would it be beneficial to get a diagnosis? What would they do and Is there a long waiting list? I just wonder what can be done. Although feeling so unhappy and struggling with life at the moment

ADHD is one of the most treatable psychiatric condition there is. It’s something like over 80% of people respond well to medication, so I think it’s worth exploring. I was just diagnosed last week and am now waiting to start meds.

Autism is different, there isn’t treatment as such but there are strategies etc and reasonable adjustments you can ask for at work. You may be able to get these without a dx but some workplaces can be awkward about it without a formal diagnosis. But there’s also plenty of peer support online (I think, I’m not autistic) and self-diagnosis is generally well accepted in the neurodivergent space, so you can join groups now if you want to.

Thank you for your reply, that's interesting to know about ADHD. Definitely worth looking into then. I'm glad you have a plan and way forward with your medication.
I don't know why but I've always felt reluctant to go to my doctor in case they thought I was exaggerating/wasting their time although I know this is probably ridiculous!
