Tips on how to get PIP with these conditions

Jaffaexplodingmouse · 13/02/2024 17:02

I would appreciate tips on how to word my PIP application to highlight the significant things about how these conditions affect my life

Depression
Binge Eating Disorder
Avoidant Personality Disorder
Dermatillomania
Psoriasis

Has anyone else managed to get approved for PIP with these conditions?

Thanks

There an organisation called Fightback4Justice who may be able to help you with all of this. You can find them online.

Just came across this post as claiming for depression also and other conditions. Glad to see you got it OK OP.

I'm due a review and being referred to a memory clinic. Not sure whether to even mention it or not, but it does have something about a score for memory on it.

You can mention it. The key info needed is how the symptoms that led you to being referred to the memory clinic have an impact on your day to day function.

Wow, in six weeks?

Yes, I was amazed after reading some of the horror stories about other people’s experience with claiming.

Thanks, I'm not in the care of MH team anyway so I expect that will come up. It does have details of a test called GPCOG which they did. 20 weeks wait for the clinic and have to have a head CT scan as well.

It's so stressful isn't it

Are you in the care of the MH team / under a psych at present, that seems to make a difference. I'm on antipsychotics and antidepressants and my diagnosis is recurrent psychotic depression, and think those meds help too in a way.

Yes and I had lots of clinical review letters from the psych and the crisis team as evidence so that probably helped.

I expect they did a paper based assessment then and that is why you got it so quickly.
