Hello, I am going through a period of terrible anxiety and anxiety attacks, I've been taking 50mg for the last month and starting on 100mg tom.
The first 2 and a half weeks were very hard and my anxiety and symptoms got much worse but after that I've been feeling ok, still anxious but not in such an exaggerated way.
I want to up the dosage but I'm scared that the side effects such as nausea and increased anxiety will return, does anyone else have experience they can share?
I'm hoping that as I'm starting from a better place the side effects may not be so pronounced , thank you.

Got put up from 50mg to 100mg back in november! At first i felt twitchy and nauseous but i promise it goes away fairly quickly. I still get twitchy if i drink but i assume thats because mixing alcohol and sertraline always makes my side effects higher. Inital side effects lasted about a week before i felt good again. Will warn you though, make sure you set an alarm to take them because ive noticed since starting 100mg i get some withdrawals if i miss a dose (flu symptoms and shakiness.) Overall was a very good experience and made me feel loafs better mentally!

Thank you, that's very positive and great advice about setting an alarm, I'm so glad they've helped you.

I take 200mg daily, and have for many years. The worst symptoms I had were nausea and insomnia, particularly when commencing a new dosage. The insomnia was resolved by switching to taking it in the morning. The nausea just ebbed away after a few days. I find it hard to speak for it's effectiveness as such as I take a combination of medication - as I have Bipolar, Asperger's, and PTSD - but I can tell when I miss a dose, so it clearly does something positive for me.

Hi OP, I had side effects when I first started sertraline on 50mg, this included nausea, tiredness, stomach issues, gas and generally feeling crap, these went away after a week or two and after about 6 weeks I went up to 100mg and I had no side effects at all with the increase! I’m also going up to 150mg in the next few days and hoping for the same as the last increase!

I had awful side effects when I started on 25mg but didn't notice anything bad when I moved up to 50 or when I moved up to 100!

I moved from 25mg to 50 about 1.5 weeks ago and going back down. 50mg is making me very angry and irritable.

Just to thank everyone for their responses it was very reassuring. For anyone else concerned about raising the dosage I'm on day 4 of 100mg and apart from some nausea the transition wasn't nearly as bad as when I started on 50mg.

I’m about 4 weeks in of going from 50 to 100mg. Finding the side effects are settling now. The main one I had was insomnia & feeling a bit detached/ low. I’m taking it in the morning to avoid the insomnia. Glad you’re tolerating it ok OP!
