Switching from mirtazapine to olanzapine

I was prescribed mirtazapine 15mg along with 100mg Sertraline(which i have been taking for 6 years) 5 weeks ago. My anxiety hasn't really improved and today i have felt really awful. 7 years ago i was given olanzapine with sertraline which seemed to work much better. Anyone found this to be the case ?

I don’t think antidepressants help with anxiety. I was on Olanzapine for a few months and it was amazing to be so calm all the time. It’s a wonderful drug but can cause massive weight gain and hypothyroidism.

I was on olanzapine with sertraline, then mirtazapine added for good measure! I found the olanzapine helped with anxiety, but I was very worried about taking an anti psychotic. I also put on 2 stone without changing my diet at all. I weaned off olanzapine and have been on pregabalin for the past couple of months, which I was very reluctant to start but eventually relented after becoming suicidal with anxiety. It has been the best thing by far. I assume if you are being offered olanzapine you are under a CMHT/ psychiatrist? I would ask about pregabalin. Also as a side note, my anxiety only started during peri menopause. I'm starting HRT to see if that gets me on a more even keel.

I am under a psychiatrist. I saw him last week and he's prescribed the Olanzapine. Fingers crossed it will help as it has previously. I will need to watch my weight though. Hope you start to feel better soon.

I didn't know about the hypothyroidism. I see my psychiatrist in 2 weeks so i'll bring that up.

Olanzapine has changed my life (after a number of years on antidepressants that didn't help). I take it for OCD (well, for the anxiety it causes). I haven't noticed any weight gain in the 2 years I've been on it.
