Hi all,
Started 50mg of Sertraline 3.5 weeks ago for crippling anxiety/suicide ideation, for the first 2 weeks I had heightened anxiety and insomnia, the insomnia has settled down but I'm still feeling quite anxious (mornings especially) and I'm reading threads of people saying they felt better straight away and certainly within the first 2 weeks. Is this normal? Praying that they will work after battling through the last few weeks.

Anxietysucks87 Thank you so much for your reply, I really needed to hear this this morning! I woke up at 6am with a churning stomach/butterflies, it’s such a horrible feeling. I’m actually taking it for depression, had a good few weeks from 4-7 weeks but now I’ve dipped again. Really hope it kicks in soon. So happy that it’s working for you now & long May it continue! Xx

I have just started as well and I’m 3 days in.

Appetite has gone which is scary because I have a history of EDs. I feel awful, so awful. I know it will pass because it did before but this part is so hard.

I keep going to work etc but my job is relentless, exhausting shift work and that’s hard too but it distracts my brain.

I am scared, I know it will pass but I’m still scared of it right now.

@Marypoppinsnot 3x 2mg a day

Bless You

They will kick in
Mine 50mg also took a good 3 to 4 weeks to kick in but they are the best AD I have ever been prescribed.

Many years ago (1992) I had Prophiaden I think it was called (spelling may be off) and couldn't cope with them after a particularly bad experience..
Also had Citilopram and Mirtazipin too.

I have just come off Mirt because it was awful. Just made me a bit more level where being down was concerned but I was an angry little bean. So easy to upset it was ridiculous.

I mean I know it will get better. I just always want a miracle drug that works straight away which is completely unreasonable but I guess that’s the dream for all of us ☺️

It is hands down the best one I know of and I’m looking forward to feeling my normal again.

I have only just joined this site now having step children and it seems such a supportive place 🤍

@Trinity65
Had you been off one of the other other ADs for long before you went into sertraline?
I've got myself in a bit (!) of a mess.
Low dose Tricyclic (clomipramine) for many years. Relapse earlier in the year and upped the dose but after 5 months I'm still really struggling - although slightly more functional now.
Dr suggesting sertraline or citalopram but I'm worried about off the clomipramine after so long - and how far down I'll go. (I've always struggled with start up / withdrawal of medication.)
