Health Anxiety, opening the box!

I struggle massively with health anxiety, which has always been in my life since very early childhood, but was compounded by losing my mother, rapidly, to cancer over ten years ago.

Today I've decided to seek help for the things that have been niggling me recently: fatigue, headaches, chronic bowel condition flares, high blood pressure. I'm going to do an e consult initially so I can get it all down without forgetting anything or having to go to the doctor's surgery.

I'm petrified but I've got to the point that I feel so weary from carrying this locked box of symptoms and worries, I need to crack it open or I'll burst.

If anyone feels similarly this is a place to come and share your journey. Let's be brave together!

Good luck and well done on your decision.

I've been slightly delaying going to get my annual blood tests this morning. Wasn't nervous beforehand. But now feeling the old feeling of physical discomfort at the anxiety. Can't relax or distract thinking about hearing the results. So came here to see if anyone else feeling similar.

Got my blood pressure checked too. I did it at home last night to try to reassure me and it was fine. But the very act of being in the surgery put it up quite a bit. The nurse was kind and sympathetic though.

And I know what you mean re opening the box. I get to a point where I accept that not knowing won't make a difference to whether there's something wrong. I just feel numb.

Sorry about your mother even though it was a while ago.
