coz, coincidentally im sure, i have been struggling to enjoy life since having it in.

if i can summon the whatever to phone and arrange it that is. while im there i'll ask for more of the happy pills since im nearly out... but doing constructive helpful (for myself) things is not exactly my forte right now. was researching best ways to kill oneself today

Just think...it's not you, it's depression that is making you feel this way.

Get through til Monday and just call the Dr. Don't focus on that as a big deal - it's a routine chore.

yeah, good idea (getting it taken out), that coil did weird things to me too - I don't think it's a coincidence at all.

seriously snappy - the doctor should never have put it in if you suffer from depression that is worsened by progesterone (which a lot of women do).

I wasn't depressed when I had it but it truly fucked my body up - had dreadful headaches, aching boobs, couldn't get out of bed...was like I'd lost some of my will. It was very very strange.

I hope you start feeling better soon.

yes, i sup[pose it would be a relief, blu. but then, i am so low right now, im not sure relief is the right word. am just wondering if i can summon the energy to bother getting it done. surrounded by fabulous children and a fairytale life, im unable to summon the will to keep breathing.

i sincerely doubt that is all down to the mirena, but hey, logic says its worth hoiking it out and seeing if that improves things before i do owt drastic, like. (i am sort of joking. i dont want to worry you and i wont do anything drastic, honest. i couldnt be arsed in this state, tbh!)

No, I know. (re drastic-ness). But very sorry you're feeling so low. And it's bound to be more than one simple thing like your coil. No fairytale is without it's darker corners somewhere between the beginning, middle and end....it's probably a whole mixture of things. But you can do without any extra pressure of feeling shit from progesterone.

I'm with fox all the way. It shouldn't be put in anyone with a history of depression and particulary PND.

I was prescriped progesten-only contraception whilst receiving treatment for PND and it intensified my depression so markedly my husband begged me to get off it - not that I needed much persuasion.

Anyone who says the coil doesn't cause side effects like this is talking out their backside.

And, in order to avoid anyone balking at taking it out, tell them you're TTC.

I felt like this too when I first had MY mirena coil put in, and when I said so to the doctor he implied I was making it all up

I KNEW I wasn't tho, as I had never felt like this before, nor had ever had depressionn before either!

And I honestly cannot understand how they can say that it isn't a side effect when so many women claim otherwise (or is it because men like to imply that we just make this up for fun cos we are women??)

I didn't go with the option of removing it tho, as I am a complete wimp regarding pain, and they had already had to put it in while I was under general for laser surgery for endo anyway......no way is it coming out while I am awake (well, unless I have the guarantee of gas n air that is).

Agree with it being the evil coil doing it. I went for a non-hormone one after DS was born, and I didn't realise how bleurgh I had been with my years on artificial hormones.

I actually quite like me a lot of the time now

I am having mine out asap. have put on a stone, and have NO- arggh- libido. Strange but true, after two kids, i still felt like doing it, before the thing was fitted- but now?! no way.

only thing is, what do i use now? have serious mumnesia, so pill is out- and hate the idea of artificial hormones.
