Mirtazapine- how long to work?

Desperate to feel better. I'm so anxious and also depressed. Also taking citaopram (have been on for many years, at highest dose), and propanalol and lorazepam prn. I've been on the mirtazapine just over 3 weeks - 2 weeks at 15mg and 10 days at 30mg. I don't feel any better - some brighter days but some much worse ones too. I know everyone responds differently but I'm feeling beyond hopeless at the moment. Please any words of encouragement appreciated.

@Twistedbumcrack I am changing tack slightly as the mirtazapine doesn't seem to be doing anything. My psychiatrist has suggested switching my citalopram to setraline so although I'm very nervous of the whole thing I also think it might be the thing that makes the difference. I'm still staying on the mirtazipine for now though. I've also started on some different tranquillisers (clonazepam) to try and kick the constant anxiety into touch. Started them this morning and feeling very calm and a bit spacey. I really hope the mirtazapine starts working for you soon. Everything I've read also suggests that they are not the quickest AD to work. Do you have anything else to take the edge of your anxiety?

@SameKeyThough I was on sertraline for years and I had no issues whatsoever. I look back at photos and realise how much it really helped, so I really hope it helps for you too.

I had to stop taking it after seven years due to medical issues with SSRIs, which is how I came to be on mirtazapine.

Hope you're not too bad today.

Did it start working in the end?
