Anxiety - where to start with self-help

Hi. I have generalised anxiety. It’s got steadily worse over the last two years and having learned more about it I can now recognise more and more anxious traits in my ways of thinking.

I am waiting to start CBT but this may be many weeks away.

In the meantime can anyone help with good solid self care / self help tips. I know diet, exercise and sleep routines all need to improve to help - anything specific around this would be great to know what has worked for others.

Are checklists a good idea or written routines. Any good breathing and mindfulness guides? Cheap/free is good but I can afford to spend a little if needed.

Thank you 🙏

I've never had a client tell me they are confident that hypnosis will work - in fact most are convinced it won't - but it does! And there's no magic or 'woo' about it, it's just harnessing the amazing capacity within the mind to change beliefs that are outdated, misunderstood or simply incorrect.

'Why has nobody told me about this before' by Dr Julie Smith is a good read in relation to anxiety. I too have GAD and honestly take on board any self help tips. I find walking does me good, particularly in nice open spaces or woodland. If I am stuck on the sofa for too long I ruminate and always feel so much worse.
