Hi all,

This is my first time posting anywhere. I’ve been on 20mg citalopram for 4 days and feel a lot worst, I’m having a constant pounding heartbeat, racing mind, a weird sensation running down my arms and excessive thirst.

8 years ago my anxiety started for no reason at all I also struggled with agoraphobia( didn’t leave the house for 9 months) and I was put on citalopram at 10mg then slowly went up to 40mg which I stayed on till February. I can’t fully remember why but me and my doctor decided to change my medication so I was slowly weaned of them (felt like hell) I was put on mirtazapine which made me feel awful. My heart felt like it was skipping beats or doing something weird. So after a few months we decided to go back to citalopram, which is where I am today 4 days in and struggling.

I really struggle with health anxiety too and have been to the hospital 3 times in the last week.

@Sara1235 the feeling crazy thing is very very common but you are not and that’s a promise.

I will be on citalopram 6 weeks come tomorrow for panic attacks and being stressed as I've got 3 kids just turned 5 and the other 2 6 months and aged 2 on the 18th of this month , I'll be 25 at the end of this month. I've noticed that im a lot more relaxed and getting back into feeling a bit like myself again and being able to get out and about slowly but surely. Recently for the past 2 weeks after my period ended I had noticed that my resting heart rate was sitting in its 50s and even when walking about the house was touching 70/80s , I don't know if this is the normal as before the normal for me and my stressful self was always sitting in 60s/70s at rest and more 80-100bpm before I started taking them so it's all I've know for a very long time.

I'm not worried as my oxygen levels are completely fine but I've only really noticed it since being on citalopram (im on 10mg) so a very small dose to take the edge off of things

I'm not a doctor, but it's important to communicate your concerns and symptoms to your healthcare provider as soon as possible, as they are best equipped to evaluate and adjust your medication to ensure your well-being and address any potential side effects you may be experiencing.
