About to start a very low dose for sleep and severe anxiety after failing pretty much all the antidepressants. They all make me too aggitsted and the anxiety becomes unbearable.

Anyone found it helped lower anxiety and lift mood at a low dose?

I really need some hope here. I feel like giving up.

Did anyone find at first when taking it did it make you very irritable and short tempered? Just started it and it's making me very grumpy.

@scaredrider I think that would put me out for a week! Thanks for your reply. Feel a bit daft freaking out about my tiny dose when people like yourself are needing it at levels like that. Glad it's helping you.

In fairness, the maximum licensed dose is 800mg. I’m just a freak with very fast metabolism.

Thank you for posting.
im currently 1 month on 200mg. I feel no different, still not sleeping or eating properly. Off balance, suicidal idealisations still there although blurred and not as fore front as they were before.

I’m also taking an antidepressant and HRT
mirtazipan recently removed and Venaflaxin added with a decreased dose due to severe paranoia which is never great. On top of everything else….

I have a review appt 1st March, assuming I wait till then to raise the above in the hope of another tweak.

Forgot to ask my question, see! 😃

you mentioned metabolism which peaked my interest as I’ve always struggled with food and wandered on the anorexic path. I’m either hyper or hibernating with no in between. I’m wondering if it’s worth mentioning although I appreciate you aren’t my doctor so just wondering about your experience?

I don’t sleep, eat or participate with life outside of my house and I’m only 40 ish,it all feels unfixable right now

OP

As PPS have said, Quetiapine does different things at different doses. This is the way I personally, have seen it taken. Doesn’t mean it’s the same for everyone. The BNF might differ slightly too.

-25mg will make you sleepy
-200mg ish, used as an adjunct (as well as) an antidepressant works well for major depressive disorder
-300-600 ish (sometimes more) for Bipolar
-600-800 for Psychosis

This is a lifesaving drug for me. I wish you all the best with it. There are no calories in the pill so it doesn’t cause weight gain but it does increase appetite. X
