mums tried Sertraline and then switched to Venlafaxine (75 now 150mg). Initial boost, but then dip again.
Consultant has suggested rather than increase Venlafaxine to its near maximum - lets add 15mg of Mirtazapine.

even the Doctor used the word "blockbuster" combination. and googling it states "Californian rocket fuel"... Goodness me, what is this going to do to my 65 year old mum?

Not anything outrageous. My psychiatrist said that 150mg was a “therapeutic dose”...it can go up to 375mg. But with high doses (300mg plus)high blood pressure can be an issue, apparently. Mirtazapine is a bit more sedating and anti anxiety so it just means she should sleep at night.

@dangermouseisace thank you. Yes, I don't think they want to give mum more Venlafaxine due to her already controlling blood pressure. 150mg hasn't caused her any additional blood pressure issues.
She already sleeps plenty, but she has huge anxiety - especially at the thought of any social interaction or leaving the house.
