Best type of therapy for anxiety

DD (17) has been diagnosed with anxiety - she has been prescribed Venlafaxine which is helping to some extent but she really needs therapy.

She has had therapy before but made no real progress, hated it and pretended to be fine to everyone in order to stop going (she admits this) but now she feels she needs therapy again but a different sort. The last one was art and talking based - what should I be looking for? Happy to pay for private.

Any advice please?

CBT is the standard treatment for anxiety. It doesn’t work for everyone but is worth a go. You can get NHS referral but takes a while. If you’d like a recommendation PM me.

I'd say CBT. I also did CAT which is cbt mixes with psycho analysis. And was finally helpful.

Cbt js great as it's very structured and teaches us to really hone in on thought patterns and how to break them.

I needed a bit of trauma therapy on top which CAT is good for.

CBT. My DC11 completed a 6 wk course for anxiety last year, it transformed him.
