Hi ladies. Struggling big time with depression and anxiety and all sorts. I've been to hospital before, but need to go again. Has anyone been to the Priory or Nightingale Mental health hospital and if so what's it like, helpful? I've got private medical through husband's job so looking at options. Thank you and sending sunshine!

What are you hoping for from an admission to a hospital? I can’t comment on your preferred choices of private hospitals, as I’ve never had that option, but when I had to go into hospital earlier this year because of shock, trauma, extreme suicidal ideation and bipolar depression, I was admitted to my local NHS mental health unit. This wasn’t an elective stay somewhere, it was purely to save my life. As it was during covid, I was kept in solitary for a few days, stayed in bed as was too
ill to get up, was visited by kind staff, and it was helpful having meals made and brought to me (I am a lone parent and was too unwell to cook/eat under my own devices). It was helpful having no means of suicide (they’d done a search on arrival & confiscated my phone charger, my face cream as it was in a glass pot etc). And it was helpful being told when to take my meds and brought them, as I’d been unable to remember them on my own.
For all those reasons it was helpful. But definitely more of a necessity (because I had no one to look after me and was going to kill my self) than a choice.

I was in the nightingale. Excellent group therapy and well looked after, felt safe and secure knowing my basic needs were being met. Night staff were agency and different each night which was tricky at times. They got me well and I will be forever thankful
