Going into hospital

I'm being picked up at 8.30 this morning, to be taken to stay in hospital. Not the first time but I've never been to this one, so quite worried about it.
Anyone else doing/done the same? Any advice?

@Olimar do you have Netflix or similar to watch on your laptop or audible?
I agree doing nothing isn’t helpful but glad you have decided to go back to get the help you need.

Not great, I've been self harming a lot due to the stress of being here and not being able to do the things that can normally calm or distract me. So far not received any of the help or the medication I was promised to make me feel better. Anything I ask about, I'm told wait until ward round next Wednesday.

Hugs, I'm sorry it's difficult. They usually spend some time getting to see how you are, unless you're known to them/have been in hospital before. I hope that ward round is helpful.

Oh hugs, I was in for 12 weeks earlier this year, so I empathise!

Is there anyone who could go to the shops for you to get some snacks so you don't end up hungry if you can't sleep? Maybe also some nicotine gum/ lozenges for if you can't get out to smoke at night. When I smoked heavily, having to suddenly cut down a lot would have me climbing the walls.

The ward should be able to give nicotine replacements, IME.

I have nicotine lozenges as I'm also addicted to those as well as cigarettes. I also ordered a vape to be delivered here because for some reason that is allowed any time I want!

Anyway I am hopefully going home in the next couple of days. They have recognised that the stress of being here is making me worse not better finally. I'm not being discharged though, just going on leave to see what happens...

Not too good, leave got cancelled for no reason so I'm still stuck in this place until at least Monday.

Fully agree with the comments that hospital can often be a holding place and not necessarily therapeutic. (Although at times I did find that it took away the stress of trying to keep myself safe). Hope you get leave soon, OP. Do you have an acute response team (or whatever they’re called) to help with the transition to home?

OT is limited to colouring books and jigsaw puzzles at the weekend. During the week there was the excitement of baking and decorating Halloween biscuits.
Wish this was a safe place, I self harmed more since I've been here than I have in many years.

Hope things get better for you

I'm now out of hospital and back at home. I'm trying to sort out all the same things I was trying to sort out before I went into hospital, but they are now all more urgent than they were before because they have been left for 3 weeks. Another reason why being in hospital didn't help me, which is why I agreed to it to begin with.
