Does anyone else not do social media?

Just exactly that really? I just wondered peoples thoughts? It sometimes feels as tho everyone is on it all the time.

Personally I have FB account but that's it, but I only get to look at it once day, usually in the evening & often don't get to the end of my news feed without being interrupted by DH or DD or some task that needs attention.

I'm beginning to hate the time it steals from me, 10 years ago I would have read a book if I'd of had some spare time, but now I don't which is really sad I'm seriously thinking of giving it up & just wondered other peoples views.

I honestly have no idea how some people have time for more than one social media account, but I know many do & from what I can see of Facebook, so much of it is Ad's these anyway?

Had FB... did all what one usually does on fb ( obsessive liking, waiting for likes etc)

One day me and my sister together just came off... we NEVER thought we would feel free!... we did!
I take pictures for myself now and they arnt oerfect but they are 'full'... I share them with my few close people and feel good :)

I am an introvert so probably it worked... may be not so for extroverts, not sure.

You’ve just reminded I've been on fucking mumsnet for hours now. I’m always so annoyed at myself for doing this.

Twitter is poison and there are some seriously weird people on it, my email account got hacked through Twitter, it was all the excuse I needed to leave. I left Facebook not long after the Scottish Independence Referendum. For about 8 weeks I came off it as I just could not stand it, the fighting and arguing was just ridiculous. I don't have any social media though I have an odd foray onto here. I don't miss any of it at all and feel loads better mentally. Social media is a time sucker, but that is how it was designed. I know many people who have given it all up, it wasn't doing them or their mental health any good.

Mumsnet is the real time suck. I am addicted. It doesn't make me feel bad about myself and kind of gives me views of other people's lives.

Facebook I only use for church or to contact local businesses. I sometimes get sucked in to reading what people post. I don't have any respect for bragging but happy to see pics of my actual friends so whilst I don't post myself I don't mind being nosy into those who do. There are a few school mums who I should probably unfollow but it's almost hard to look away from.

Wow what a question. Thanks for your nice question. I also use facebook most of the time, later I think, this site took most of my time. So just i get out from this site. Now I feel happy and not worry about likes, comment and etc...

I've never used FB but now I do find that a lot of information is only accessible via FB so I do think I am missing out on some things ... local information for example, but I can't be bothered to do anything about it.

I spend far too much time on here though Blush ie; this morning I've had a quick look at the news on line and then straight to Mumsnet ... in the 'old days' I would be reading a proper newspaper or a book first thing in the morning. ( No young DC or long commute to get up for !).

I don't do any.

I have whatsapp groups to keep in touch with my family and actual close friends. I don't care about anyone else enough to follow them on social networks.

Can’t stand Facebook! Find it so complicated and so dull. Or maybe that’s just the people I know. But who thinks pictures of their dinner/walk are interesting? And there are so many, and I can’t keep up with them all even if I wanted to.
Also that selfie pose! The pout and the head carefully angled and the self adoration in the eyes. Eeww!
But WHY is mn so addictive?!

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 05/10/2021 06:26

Only Mumsnet and a couple of specialist hobby forums. I've never had a FB, Instagram, Twitter etc. account. Just not something I want in my life.

Apparently Facebook and some other platforms went down last night to the horror of thousands, and probably forcing them into ‘normal’ activity instead of being glued to a device Grin

The last time I checked my Facebook account it had two friends, four acquaintances and one person as a fan. The only people that seem to be interested in what’s happening with me are those from work or family so when this random stranger messaged asking about the best day spa near. Now every other post seems really important now because they might come true someday soon...
