Hi. Need your advice/positive experiences...
Couple weeks ago I was diagnosed with severe depression and generalised anxiety disorder so started fluoxetine/Prozac for first time. It’s been 3weeks now, a did a week on 10mg and then to 20mg. I’ve seen an improvement in my mood and energy, from a 0 to a 4, but will this continue to improve over the following weeks or is this the best it’s going to get? I still feel down during the evenings, when did it start to work for you/noticeable improvements? Xx

Hope everyone is OK Flowers

Hi @FiloFaxx

I’m doing pretty well thank you. Made some significant steps forward over the last 3-4 weeks but felt I needed to take a break from here for a bit. Feeling very settled on the 40mg now and my ERP therapy has come to an end. I feel I have the tools to take things forward at my own pace though sometimes my pace may look far too slow to others. Feel I’m getting better in spite of them and growing in confidence again.

How are you?

Maidenpink · 15/09/2021 13:12

This is so great to hear @polelynn! What a journey you've been on, massive congrats on getting to here.

I'm still not feeling the best ... much better than the early days on here but hormonal fluctuations still flooring me at times. I'm about to adjust my HRT (been on for 9 weeks now). Still on Fluoxetine 20mg, plan is to come down off that when I stabilise the hormones. Still don't know how I feel about that, not convinced I won't need another AD but maybe not Fluox. It's a complicated journey! X

Hope it's OK for me to jump on here. I started 20mg fluoxetine in autumn 2020 and increased to 40mg after giving birth in July. I've just started some talking therapy and I'm feeling severely depressed, a truly new low which can be attributed to the therapy but also some family issues as a result of the therapy. I was wondering if anyone could advise on whether it'd be a good idea to increase to 60mg? It just feels like a massive amount and I don't want to be drugged into a zombie-like state but I feel like absolute shit and I don't know what else to do 😔
Thank you

Hello, can I please join? I’ve just been prescribed Fluoxetine by my GP to treat my anxiety which has gone through the roof over the past few months.

I’ve never taken an antidepressant before so feeling very nervous especially about potential side effects.

Starting tomorrow. Wish me luck!

GreenTeaBlackCoffeeAndRedWine · 04/11/2021 11:03

Hi can I join this please? I've been switched from mirtazapine to fluoxetine and started fluoxetine this morning. I will have a read of this thread properly but my main problem with mirtazapine was i felt spaced out and tired all day so I needed something less sedating, did anyone find they felt drowsy in the mornings on it?

Started fluxotine 5 weeks ago and had minimal side effects. Absolutely feeling 100 times better I can’t believe it. I’m not happy per se but I’m coping with all sorts of stuff that would have seen me severely depressed. I can’t recommend them enough.

Coffeeismyhero · 09/11/2021 09:27

Hi everyone, please can I join? I've just been prescribed fluoxetine again, I was previously on it a few years ago. I'm on day four and feeling quite numb and emotionless, has anyone had this? I don't remember feeling this last time, but I think I started on a lower dose last time. I'm on 20mg now. I'm finding it quite scary, I knew where I was when I was crying every day! It's making me doubt how I was feeling just a few days ago, I'm sorry if this sounds weird. Just feeling a bit spaced out and not sure if this is better or worse. I know I have to stick with it though.

First few days I was ready to stop. Convinced myself I wasn’t that bad and the side effects were Worse. I perceived however after reading online to continue and don’t stop. And I’m so glad I did.

Hi everyone, can I join too please? I’ve been on 20mg for a week and my sleep is all over the place. I’m really tired by early evening and often doze off, then up again until around 1am and then waking around 5am panicking about things unreasonably and unable to get back to sleep. I’m not sure if I’m seeing much in the way of improvements yet, and it’s hard to tell through the tiredness, but hopefully it’s just early days.

Honestly, this changed my life. I’m only in my 3rd week with Floxetine, but I’ve seen the biggest change in my anxiety. I can actually laugh about the things that would make me worry to the point I was sick on a day-to-day basis. I’ve always been skeptical of antidepressants, but this one is worth it. The side effects go away within a few weeks, max. The only thing that was bothersome was the insomnia, but it only kept me up about 2 hours after my original bedtime. Don’t let the side effects keep you from taking this drug though, once you’re on the other side, you’ll realize that yes, the grass is sometimes greener on the other side! I’ve had the most peace and the most stress-free life in 3 weeks than I’ve had in 20 years. It’s a game changer - https://topeuro-shop.com

that should say the pandemic came along, not the panda. FFS Blush

I thought it was a depression metaphor, like the proverbial black dog 😀
