I've taken the plunge with setraline!

Finally decided to do it. I was prescribed it in the summer and the GP mentioned I can take half a tablet at first, but I can't remember how long for.

I have 50 mg tablets. Can anyone advise how long I should stay on 25 mg? I'll make a call to the GP too of course to let them know.

I'm really trying to lose weight at the moment and I'm doing OK. I'm concerned this Setraline will set me back. Any advice on how to avoid this ? Surely if I keep eating right etc, it won't happen ?

Any other advice is much appreciated.

Thank you so much for reading.

No advice but I'm calling gp tomorrow to hopefully start it.

What symptoms are you taking it for?

I am on my third day of taking it and it has actually made me feel pretty bad if I am being honest. Mostly I feel so tired but yesterday I just wanted to hide in bed and cry. I know it is normal for it to make you feel worse at first so I will keep taking it.

In regards to weight gain I have actually heard that it is not the medication itself that makes you gain weight but rather it's a case of people eating more as you feel better. For some people depression can seriously impact appetite.

Good luck to both of you. I feel very tired today. Like I have a weight in my head. Otherwise OK. I'm taking it for anxiety and depression.

The tiredness really is awful isn't it?

Dementedswan · 21/02/2021 15:39

I'm on day one too. Starting in 50mg for depression ans anxiety. I took it at lunch time, felt a bit spaced out after a while. Now I just feel tired and I cant be arsed with anything.

It's half for 7 days, then go up to 1.

orchidsonabudget · 21/02/2021 17:38

I took half for 2 weeks it made me feel
Better. I still get dry mouth. I didn't gain weight immediately but I did have a pretty shit January. My depression didn't affect my appetite.
