Any anti anxiety meds that don’t dull life?

I was prescribed sertraline for PMDD but came off it because I couldn’t cry, feel or orgasm while on them.
But my PMDD is so bad at the moment and I’m worried my relationship is suffering because of it.
Are there any SRI drugs that don’t completely numb your senses?
Thanks you.

I take mirtazapine for anxiety and insomnia. It has transformed my life, particularly with regards to the insomnia, and definitely hasn’t numbed anything at all! I will happily take it forever

The right one for you!
I’ve tried quite a few. Prozac has been life changing.

Duloxetine for me.

Yes Prozac/fluoxetine- I've been on many and this is by far the best. I've been truly happy now for six years.

Valdoxan

What dose were you on? A lower dose might work?

SNRI's made me feel like I was in the middle of my head and wrapped in cotton wool. It was awful.

I had to go back to just being on SSRI's and am now taking five different meds and I feel like Im coping much better, I'm ill but I don't feel ill and dulled which was much worse.

Escitalopram was good for me. Lexapro.

SacreBleeeurgh · 06/02/2021 23:32

Citalopram was good for me. So as you can see (unfortunately), as PP says, the one that works best is the right one for you! Everyone is different, but there are absolutely options out there. Good luck!

Thank you all, I feel hopeful now that they might be able to find something that works better for me.

Out of interest how long did you stay on the sertraline for before deciding it wasn't for you? I couldn't orgasm for a few weeks at the start but I can now! It may have settled if you'd given it longer?

I think about 2 months.
That’s interesting. I have a good vibrator now too so it might be worth a go!
