Hi I am new to this so here goes...
I used to take flouxetine for PMT but came off it when I found out I was pregnant. I am now feeling back to my old grouchy self and am four months into breast feeding. Does anybody know if its ok to take?

Thanks in advance

I was told it was. Think that lustral/sertraline tends to be preferred to fluoxetine for breastfeeding these days mind. Speak to GP or HV (whichever you feel more comfortable with).

you may find doctor or hv unsupportive, depending on their view point.

any of the breast feeding organisations however, will support the decision. there has recently been more controversy surrounding fluoxetine, particularly in pregnancy.

try and take your dosage at a time during the day when your baby is likely to go longest between feeding as this will reduce amount of crossover.

took fluoxetine myself for several months whilst feeding, with no apparent side effects. any current research advises monitoring baby for extreme changes in behaviour.

the benefits of continuing to bf, in my opinion, and in the mind of LLL, continue to outweigh the negatives however.
