hello, my dp has been taking these tablets for depression for about 4 months now. what dosage have they given you? You cannot drink with these tablets can elevate blood pressure so can be dangerous. I have to be honest he did experience quite a few side affects, but try to keep with it, they do fade with time. His biggest problem on these tablets was sleeping, he was very restless so he took nytol herbal sleeping tablets as well and that seemed to work. But the worst side-affect was quite a lot of nausea, although never actually being sick and persistant diarrhea. i hope i haven't scared you off.

i have to say i had barely any nausea, no tummy trouble(!) but the 2 main ones were severe insomnia and loss of appetite - i went from size 10 to size 6/8!

Have been on them for six weeks now and still cannot sleep without sleeping pills!!

Hi pinkranger.

I have been on these for nearly a year now. I started off on 20mg and like I was told, they elevated my anxiety for a couple of weeks, then I found I felt alot better after 4 weeks of starting them.

After that I did start to feel nauseous and occasionaly be sick. I also became travel sick which I had never experienced before.
Anyway after a trip to my gp, it turned out that drinking tea was making me feel sick and that is quite common apparently but they lowered my dose to 10mg and the sickness disappeared.

Some people dont get any effects at all and what they do get go after a few weeks.

Thanks ladies, never had anything like this before so a little scared/nervous to say the least.
the list of effects seemed endless reason i ask about drinking is because we are away next weekend without the kids (i need to rest) and it would be nice to relax with a glass of red without running round the house like a mad women.

I took a low dosage of these tablets when I had PND, and didn't notice any major side effects.
I found I yawned more than normal, and felt a little nausea, but nothing much.
I decided not to take them until after my sisters hen night & wedding because of the no alcohol thing though!

Oh yes, I had the yawning too
Very bizarre.

Tbh pinkranger your better off staying away from the alcohol of you can.
I had some sessions of CBT when I first started taking Citalopram and the therapist advised to me look at my diet.
She said to cut out sugary stuff, sweets, fizzy drinks, caffine, alcohol and cheeses.

Like a saint I stopped drinking Coke (my favourite) and eating chocolate, drinking tea and eating cheese and I really noticed the difference.
Then at xmas we were bought a ton of chocolates and I caved in and ate it.
The next couple of days I became really anxious and couldnt understand why.
It dawned on me later that I had been stupid and pigged out lol.
