I don't know. Maybe it is "regular" depression???

nailpolish · 05/10/2007 17:51

but is it pnd if it develops after a birth of a baby? is htat the only difference then?

I had PND after all 3 of mine and AND with number 3. I think, however, I have been depressed for years and because I had a baby it was picked up on and labelled as PND.

Are you okay NP?

ManxMum · 08/10/2007 17:26

I did

Prozac worked wonders and as DS4 special needs, I will keep taking them as long as I need to.

MY DH said his Ex-W had PND five years later.

Children change your life at all ages, in one way or another.

Just thought,

Could you have SAD?

grottylotty · 11/10/2007 20:49

I thin it could be PND, I suffered very badly after the birth of my first. Hadn't recovered when I had my second. Have been seeing a homeopath for 2 years now and feel better than ever. Give it a try.

I don't think there's a time limit for pnd. I was astonished to be diagnosed well over a year after my fourth. I didn't suffer with the other 3 and just thought I was exhausted and yet unable to sleep, anxious about everything and not really functioning.
Went to my GP, burst into tears and was given paroxetine, one of a group of so-called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs. This has been done in parallel with a course of counselling and both are really helping me get better. Good luck NP, there is help out there!

It could be depression but gets called post natal depression because it is usually dx soon after a baby is born, as you are being seen by health professionals.
