Writing to someone in hospital?

I realise this will vary hospital by hospital, but do you know in general if you can write a letter to someone who is an inpatient in a mental health unit (voluntary patient)? I ask because although I've spoken to them, mobile phone reception is poor and we keep getting cut off. I will try to contact the hospital tomorrow to ask, but just curious of others' experiences. Thanks!

Yes you can. You can also receive gifts etc. Just be aware that, depending on how secure the hospital is and what level of watch the inpatient needs, it may get checked first.

Thank you! Good to know. I wouldn't mind at all if it was checked first, and completely understand why it would be. Smile
