To ask you how you realised you had BPD or bipolar?

Hello,

I have seen certain aspects of my behaviour that fit into BPD possibly even bipolar but I do not know much about this and am looking to hear from some of you ladies.

How did you realise you had either of these conditions?
What help and support have you accessed?
How has this helped you and improved your life?

Thanks

I realised bipolar was a possibility when I had a high episode and believed I could fly.
That was in 2010. I had treatment for that episode but then moved and dropped off the radar. I had a depressive episode in 2012 and the antidepressants I was prescribed sent me high. I was referred to the early intervention team who treated and monitored my mood and was formally diagnosed with bipolar in 2015 (it was probable bipolar in the intervening period)

My advice would be keep a mood diary of your mood each day, what has influenced it and what symptoms you are having. I use a mood monitoring site called mood scope which allows you to rate various feelings and it gives you a score at the end (word of warning the pep talk it gives you is only geared to unipolar depression I can be scoring high indicating an elevated mood and it congratulates me, I just know to ignore that). There are other apps and sites out there this is just the one I like.

It can take a while to get a diagnosis because it takes time to work through the patterns and triggers.
