Hi, anyone on this AD? I want to get opinions of anyone who has taken them through pregnancy. Was there any major problem with the baby/birth/withdrawl if you stayed on them and if you came off them did you manage your own withdrawl through pregnancy? Any comments appreciated.

I've read on the package that you can continue taking if the 'risk to the mother exceeds the risk to the foetus'. Now I'm hardly likely to go and kill myself but I'm doing really well on these and don't think it is such a bad thing... or am I being naieve?

Hi, I had a lot of anxiety when I was pg, and saw a pscyh who specialised in pregnant and breastfeeding women.

prozac is the no1 recommened ad for pregnant women. HTH

Thanks, I've done some looking up on it and gut feeling is that it looks like the best one if I have to stay on them. The only worry is the baby and withdrawl after birth. Don't see any signs/reports of birth defects....

i was prescribed fluoxetine during pregnancy for AND, but it was quite late in the day...around 35 weeks, so i wasn;t worried about development etc. I wanted to BF and the hospital told me that prozac not the best AD and wanted me to stop for a week before starting a new AD. I did this and there was no obvious withdrawal effect on my LO.

If you plan to BF, i would ask about changing. I was referred to the mother and baby psychiatric unit and they put me on sertraline (Lustral)
hth....and good luck.

Hi I took them (under care of consultant psych) when I was PG, started them at 30 weeks. I was advised to breastfeed to reduce risk of withdrawal symptoms (this was in 2003). No problems with the baby or withdrawal.
