Fluoxetine & quetiapine @ 30 weeks pregnant

I came off 60mg fluoxetine and 200mg quetiapine in a panic as soon as I found out I was pregnant around 5 weeks (wasn't planned). Things have been fine till the past couple of weeks when my mood has dropped and can't cope. Been teary and hormonal throughout the pregnancy but things are spiralling. I'm 30 weeks and I've been prescribed 40mg fluoxetine and 100mg quetiapine. I want to know the effects people have noticed on their babies after the birth. I know baby needs me to be well but in my eyes his health comes before mine. I've read about heart defects, withdrawal symptoms, increased risk of autism & ADHD to the baby and gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, pre eclampsia to the mother.

Also, were you able to breastfeed on this medication?

Hi OP, congratulations on your pregnancy. We can't advise but are giving this a little bump for you Flowers

Hi OP

I’m no expert but have done a fair bit of reading on meds in pregnancy having needed them myself; the two you are on are considered some of the safest ones for pregnancy and breastfeeding.

OP if your doctor has prescribed them they will be safe, and keeping you safe and alive is important too, you need to be healthy to care for your baby. Your psychiatrist is the person to ask about safety in breastfeeding.
