Do psychiatrists share your diagnosis with authorities?

Your medical records are totally confidential and cannot be shared with anyone without your permission. What is it that you are concerned about exactly?

Thank you. I read all sort of stuff on Internet, so was a bit worried if this information will be shared.

I forgot to mention I am in the UK. I am worried that I maybe required to share it with employer. Also, I am in UK on a resident visa and need to renew it.

Mine told dvla but he did warn me first, I was in hospital and he said it was his responsibility to inform them.

Your records are normally confidential, the exception being where you are a risk to yourself or others.

I don't know how much information you have to divulge for visa renewal, you'd need to ask an immigration specialist about that.
