Does anyone have any experiences with a CPN? (Community psychiatrist nurse.)

I have been assigned one due to a mental break down recently and have never had one before. Just wondering what the first meeting is about or like? What they did for you to support you? And how long you had one for?

CPN Community Psychiatric Nurse work in community team and see clients at home or at the work base
1st appt will
Introduce self give their contact details and acknowledge the reason for referral
Ask you about your current situation eg accommodation,
Your mental health,
Discuss recent events regard mental health and treatment
your current routine
who’s important to you (family,friends),
medication (what’s prescribed, compliance, explanation of the medications)
A crisis plan in the event your needs increase you should be involved in this
A care plan of your treatment you should be involved in this
Out of hours services eg A&E , crisis team

Ideally you’ll have a good rapport with the CPN
Frequency of visits depends on the team but at least monthly

You’ll have CPN nad be subject to reviews, if its felt you don’t need CPN you’ll be discharged to GP

The support should be holistic
Social
Medication
Mental health/emotional
