Have you managed to get life insurance with recent self-harming?

Asking for a friend who is struggling to find an insurer.

It was nearly five years ago now.

Having spoken to a life insurance broker just this morning about similar issues, the answer seems to be that if she can wait until five years have passed she’ll have a much easier time of it. Within five years it’s not impossible, but a lot of insurance companies will say no and those who say yes will put the price up considerably.

If she does want to sort something sooner rather than later, suggest she contacts LifeSearch - I’ve found them very helpful.

Thankyou.

It’s rubbish. There should be an excluding pre-existing conditions option if nothing else.

There really should be. Maybe some companies do that, but it doesn’t appear common.

Tell her not to bother with the cheaper companies like Beagle Street - they reject people for almost anything.

Mine isn’t quite sorted yet, but the broker at LIfeSearch is fairly confident AIG will say yes to me - you need a big company like that.

Lovely, I’ll put her onto them. Even if she gets another policy when the 5 year mark is up.

Good luck. I know I had masses of questions with PND. 😰
