I've been prescribed this but after trying lots of others. I feel so scared so would love to hear other's personal experiences. Thank you X

I was on it for couple of years. It worked very well but I did gain lots of weight unfortunately. It made me tired too but I was on 600mg.

Have you tried ADs? I've read that pregabalin is amazing for anxiety but apparently it's hellish to come off and you develop a tolerance and so need to keep upping the dosage. I'm not sure if everyone experiences that though but I opted for Citalopram and I can't tell you how much better I feel after just five weeks on it. I feel like the old me again and the horrible daily anxiety and panicky feelings have gone.

I had anxiety (no depression) for about seven years before I finally gave in and took the Citalopram. I'd read so many horror stories, I was terrified but they have made a massive difference.

I'm sure everyone is different but I just thought I'd share my experience if ADs are something you haven't tried.

To be fair though, I have a friend who takes Pregabalin for epilepsy and she said that her anxiety has been much better whilst on it. She's been on the same dose for over a year and hasn't had any problems with it so maybe the negative stuff I read was just fear mongering.

I've had anxiety for years before starting on the Citalopram and I know how horrible it can be. In my opinion, if it works, it's worth taking. I actually asked my Dr for Pregabailn about a year ago but he said no. Not sure why (maybe because it's expensive??)

I was terrified of taking ADs as I'd read so much horrible stuff about them but I've been fine. So glad I took the plunge.

Maybe you could give the Pregabalin a try for 6 months and see how you get on with it?

Good luck. Anxiety is a bastard.

It did nothing for me, but I didn't develop a dependence to it either so no problems stopping it.

Thanks everyone. I've tried every ssri on the market. Citalopram was awful, I literally didn't sleep for 3 days. I was so desperate I tried it again and the same thing, it was hell 😢 I have arthritis as well so it could help with the pain too. My anxiety has spiralled since getting up, I'm terrified but think that's down to how awful Venlafaxine was 😢 This could be my one last chance of being anxiety free!
