Can someone 'sit' with me?

I have MH problems. This week I've been especially unwell.

It's all come to a head tonight. And I'm wanting to SH.

I don't really know exactly what I'm wanting from this thread. I feel incredibly lonely and I'm struggling with all my thoughts. I don't know what to do.

Can someone keep me company please?

I'm here...

MarinaMarinara · 20/01/2019 20:41

Would you prefer to talk about it or would you like a distraction and to talk about something else? Is there anyone at all that can be with you IRL? Are you somewhere safe right now? Thinking of you Flowers

Shadow01 · 20/01/2019 20:41

I’ve been there.
The one thing that’s helped me although I know it won’t help everyone is to break time down. - If I can get through the next 5/10/15 mins without SH then I can can get through the next using distractions. Break time down as small as you need to. Flowers. I know it’s not easy

countrybunny · 20/01/2019 20:41

I'm here to sit to... so budge up and make some room x

Chocolatethief · 20/01/2019 20:42

lotusbell · 20/01/2019 20:45

I'm here x

LEMtheoriginal · 20/01/2019 20:45

Can you distract yourself with some games on your phone? Crap on tv?

Do you want to tslk about it or general chat?

OdeToDiazepam · 20/01/2019 20:47

I find listening to music really helpful. Your favourite songs or a playlist on YouTube.. dark room, headphones on, close your eyes.. that's got me through a fair few bad evenings Thanks

Youtwohumpedcamel · 20/01/2019 20:47

Thanks so much. I'm by myself, kids are asleep.

I keep going to then stopping myself. Sat here crying. I haven't done it for 10 months.

I've had different types of thoughts this last week. After a crap day I just feel like it's all too much. I can't work out which of my thoughts are real, which to believe. Feel at an utter loss

Sometimes it's best just to have a good cry and let it all out. And just keep remembering, you won't feel this way for ever, it will pass. Just be kind to yourself.

alwaysaworrier · 20/01/2019 20:54

You're doing the best you can do just now, and it is good enough. Your children love you unconditionally and keep them as your focus.

XmasPostmanBos · 20/01/2019 20:56

Hi there OP what happened on your day?

ladybee28 · 20/01/2019 20:58

Budge up, will you, you lot? I'm coming to sit too!

Hi OP Grin really happy to see you're here with us.

I can't work out which of my thoughts are real, which to believe

Let's figure that out later – for now, just hang out with us.

Junglerum · 20/01/2019 21:00

Take comfort in the fact your kids are sleeping - they must be safe warm and peaceful, always feel better with sleeping dc Flowers I hope you are ok op

Potentialmadcatlady · 20/01/2019 21:01

I’m here... does mindfulness help at all? Can you do the see five things, hear 4things etc? Or one I like is to ping a hairband on my wrist? I find breaking time right down helps- into tiny bits of five/ten mins?.. can you go to bed and get cosy? Tell your self happy stories in your head?
You aren’t alone...

Disfordarkchocolate · 20/01/2019 21:01

Hello OP, lots of people here for you. Lots of people have been where you are now.

When life is very hard I do lots of different things to break up the negative thoughts, something usually works. Good book to re-read, favourite tv programme (Gavin and Stacey), hot bath, excercise (mini trampoline), short bursts of tidying (good for feeling like you have done something useful) or I text a friend and plan something. Sometimes I sneak and and kiss my son on the cheek.

Tomorrow you can take steps to get some support, is your GP any good. Mine has been really supportive.

Hen2018 · 20/01/2019 21:04

I’m here. I also have long-standing MH problems (though not SH).

Is there anything you fancy doing this evening? Something to catch up with on TV? A bit of cooking like getting a meal ready for tomorrow? Pop out and see the super/blood moon, taking a cup of tea with you?

Youtwohumpedcamel · 20/01/2019 21:04

Ladybee28 that made me smile. Plenty of room, it's a fairly big corner sofa 😁

It's silly really. What's tipped me over the edge.

I've taken my usual meds and an extra one which I'm allowed to do. So hoping that might help.

It just feels so overwhelming.

I've got Milkybar to go round Grin

I'm here - I'll hold your hand and we can talk or we can just sit

courderoy · 20/01/2019 21:06

Hello, budge up everyone. Hi OP Flowers.

Hen2018 · 20/01/2019 21:06

Or (and this is going to make me sound silly!) if I feel bad I think of horrid jobs to do as why not do them when you feel awful anyway! A bit of shoe cleaning (hate it), empty the bins, clean the fridge etc. You might still feel rough after but you’ll have achieved something.

OdeToDiazepam · 20/01/2019 21:07

I love milky bar! Had buttons earlier Grinsometimes you've got to just write off a day as a bad one, think about tomorrow, remember it doesn't last forever

Disfordarkchocolate · 20/01/2019 21:07

Ooh milkybar, lovely childhood memories for me now. Without even trying you made someone happy x

Craftycorvid · 20/01/2019 21:09
