I have a history of depression and am just coming out of a recent bout. I bought a magazine yesterday that had a very good article in it about self care. Talks about the fact that you can't keep dipping into your emotional tank to help people without filling it up regularly. I totally agree. I think it's particularly common in women to put ourselves last, after partner and kids and possibly elderly parents.
I spoke to a friend earlier who is suffering with anxiety and depression and was talking to her about it. She is quite fragile at the moment but is trying to support her husband, as his dad passed away last week.
It got me thinking about how we look after our own care. What do you do when you need some self care?

I just have to switch off if possible and that usually means stretching out on the sofa, watching non-demanding TV programmes or reading a book, phone on silent, I try to reduce the amount of demands on me/commitments to the minimum for a few minutes/hours if possible, it’s the only way I can recharge

Sounds good! I tend to take myself off to a coffee shop and read
