Mirtazapine - how long to kick in?

Hi all
Any experiences of how long mirtazapine took to have an effect? Just gone up to 30mg after one week on 15mg and continued suicidal ideation and severe depression and feeling very tired. Typically feeling like nothing will help at this point although I know objectively that these things take a while to work.

Thank you

Sorry no idea but I have started taking this too.

How are you finding it @Timpani?
I'm still having thoughts I shouldn't be here and can't see a decent future for myself but some of the intense emotion has gone. Really tired all the time.

I might be wrong but I thought most antidepressants take 3-4 weeks to reach effectiveness, not an expert though
Hope it helps you soon

@allusedup
I'm finding it makes me sleepy the next day. I'm on holiday from work at the moment and dread having to start getting up at 6 again. I've been on it about a week now. I'm worried about the notorious weight gain with it :(

15mg is sleep dose and excellent. Works immediately for that. I have it with Prozac and the combo is the best for me.

However was on 30mg a few years back and it turned me into a walking zombie. Just lethargic and not with it.

Oh, and weight gain and wanting to eat the contents of the fridge on a daily basis comes pretty quick.
