Has anyone got life insurance with a mental illness??

Both DP and I have a diagnosis of BPD, depression and anxiety. We have tried speaking to numerous life insurance providers including all of those on the Mind list. Nobody will insure us. Has anyone managed to get a policy and who are you with? We're quite worried about it. We each have a death in service benefit which would mostly cover the mortgage but ideally we'd like a life insurance policy too especially before we start ttc.

I had an insurance policy that was taken out with the mortgage through a financial adviser. I think it was Norwich Union who are now Aviva. STBXH had medical issues, I had mental health. We didn’t speak to anyone, we just had forms to fill out and they sent stuff off to our GPS asking questions. I felt I had to declare the MH problems as I’d been on a section 3, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have TBH.

The GP gave me it to review before sending it back, and any of the more dodgy questions eg suicide/self harm etc they’d put “not to our knowledge” if such things were deemed to be in the past.

It might be worth speaking to a broker/advisor...
