..and would like to share their experience?

I had horrid side effects going from 20-40mg fluoxetine (probably because I increased too quickly).
I have had one small sleeping tablet ever and it did make me sleep, but totally wiped me out the next day.

The Quetiapine is being prescribed as an add on anti-depressant rather than an anti-psychotic.

That sounds a lot of medication but I have no direct experience of the combination.
Are you on 60 mg fluoxetine now or 40mg?

If 40mg then is the psyche suggesting an increase at the same time as an add on? Or do you mean do one at a time?
If you are on 60mg was the jump from 40-60mg ok?

Medication effects can vary so much form person to person it may be hard for anyone else to comment.

Fact is you have to have confidence in your doctor and what they propose and if you don’t then discuss it with them again.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply.

I am on 40mg fluoxetine now.

He didn't really make a suggestion, we discussed it and agreed that I would increase to 60mg on May 8th (after I have endured a GP-advised week off exercise). I will then see how I get on before making a decision about the Quetiapine.

I am also starting CBT this week, though I have not met the psychologist yet so haven't made a final decision. If I don't click with her then it won't be a good use of my time.

Ok so he is suggesting step wise which makes more sense
So just try the 60mg and see how you feel I guess? inceemental changes don’t always cause the same side effects so fingers crossed for you

Well yes, I was asking if anyone had any experience of that combination. I know everyone's different, but it can be useful to share.

Thank you

Hi op,
I’ve been on quetiapine for over a year now and back on fluoxetine 60 mg for 6 months.
The fluoxetine once your used to it I find no side effects.
The quetiapine is different but I’d be lost without it after a crisis last year. I also use it as a anti depressants add on at a high dose.

Fight Thank you for sharing your experience.
I tolerate fluoxetine once the initial side-effects have settled, though they were pretty grim when I went from 20-40mg.

I am mostly worried about the sedative effect of quetiapine. My nurse said you can take it as on on-need basis which does reassure me.

We'll see.
