Anyone had online counselling they can recommend?

I'm looking for some counselling and can't afford private but there is no nhs counselling locally and the subsidised church counselling service seems very hit and miss - I had a counsellor who seemed to just want to talk about herself and had slotted me into a drawer straight away so everything I said was down to one reason, which wasn't the case.

I can't pay the going rate of £75 per session but realise there are some things I need to talk through and i don't know where to start.

Any suggestions?

I haven't any experience so not sure what it is like but Anxiety UK offer subsided counselling and therapy for members (membership £30 per year I think). It may be worth checking out.

Have you looked around for any charities nearby?

Would you be open to Skype therapy? I see my current therapist for £40 a session and in person when I'm back in London.

I've also heard of betterhelp- which gives you the option of choosing the plan you want ie just texting or also video calling too but they're based in the US.

The only charity nearby is the church based one I wasn't happy with.

You can find a therapist on counselling directory or the Bacp site and then filter by 'online'

It also means you can get someone cheaper if they're not in your expensive area
