Best time of day to take sertraline

Hello

Just looking for any advice on this.

I’ve finally come to accept that I need medication to help me, so after many times of taking the prescription and just not filling it this time I am about to start taking sertraline.

I know it can have some initial side effects and was wondering if there is anything I can do to minimise them?

Hello I found it worked best for me if it take it an hour or so before I go to sleep as it made me pretty tired at the start also that way you sleep through most of the side effects. 😊

I've just started on it today
GP advised to take in the morning in case it makes insomnia worse.

Thanks both

I’m most worried about the nausea. It sounds silly but I suffered hyper emesis with both my pregnancies and my depression was also triggered during that first pregnancy. It has left me terrified of that nausea feeling as it takes me back to a very dark time.

Hi Ilovecrumpets I too suffered with hyperemesis during my pregnancies. It was horrible with the 2nd especially. I was trying to take care of a toddler whilst vomiting 20-30 times a day. I get what you mean about nausea bringing those feelings back. It's vile. I take my sertraline at 5. I find that by about 9 I am starting to get sleepy. The side effects for me were quite severe, but I am now 6 weeks in and feeling much better.

If you take them with food instead of an empty stomach that will help with the nausea even if it’s just a biscuit or something small hope you feel better soon!

I took it in the evening because I felt a bit light headed. I was ok by the morning.

It’s the occasional diarrhoea that bothers me now. But I’m far better with it than without!

I don't feel any different apart from super anxious but I was anxious before I took it so I don't think they are related Hmm

Thanks everyone
