fluoxetine - feel out of control

I have been taking fluoxetine for nearly a week. I feel in a panic every morning and on verge of tears. Anyone else had this?

I've not had this side effect myself, but believe it's not uncommon. Hopefully someone with more experience will be along soon.

This often happens when you start taking this type of drug, you feel worse before better, keep going if you can, I'm on citalopram and I started to feel better about day 10. Xxx

SSRIs can feel very strange for the first few weeks. It can be hard to cope with. Try to accept it as an unpleasant but harmless and temporary side affect. It's not nice, but it can't hurt you, and it shouldn't last. Don't expect too much from yourself. Lots of rest and self care. In a week or so, you will hopefully feel a weight lifting.
