A doctor to prescribe wellbutrin?

I have seen private psychiatrists before abroad (where I used to live) and was prescribed Wellbutrin (Bupropion). After having tried at least ten different types of ant depressant, this was truly life changing for me.

I am now back in the UK. I stopped taking it for the last month and have felt progressively worse and worse, so today after seeing my GP, I have restarted.

HOWEVER, I only have a week's tablets left and wellbutrin is not regularly prescribed for depression in the UK. My GP said several times she would not prescribe it, and also said it as possible I wouldn't get it on the NHS at all, and strongly recommended I find a private doctor to prescribe it, if they are willing.

She will do a referral letter as soon as I have found someone.

Has anyone had this before? Who have they used?

Hi does any have an update on whether wellbutrin is now stocked again in the UK?
desperate to be on this, tried so many others, thinking it's best to request a psychiatrist referral through my GP due to having long history of mental health problems

Apologies for being absent from this thread for a few months. DS’s GP in London said the pharmacy had some stock of Bupropion that was kept aside for people such as my son. So DS was able to keep taking it. I have to say the anxiety he suffered last year when he thought it was unavailable was awful. There is no comparable alternative that works the same way, especially with quetiapine. I hope anyone on this thread who has been trying to fill a prescription has been able to.

Coming to add to this thread...I've just been prescribed Buproprion for ADHD so interested in hearing people's experiences of side effects.
I'm also taking Citalopram (but have emailed doctor to double check this is ok).
Other ADHD meds (I have basically tried them all) especially stimulants, gave me a fast heart rate which was uncomfortable and kept me awake.
Has anyone had this as a side effect of Buproprion?
I'm almost expecting it to be honest (ECG fine though) as I can't even drink caffeine. I'm excited to try it though because I've heard such good things about it.

Was this in the UK and was it for depression. I’m adhd and suffer mental health and really want to try it?
